We collect the categories of Personal Information identified in the chart below.

For US Residents Only: The chart indicates the categories of Personal Information that we “sell,” “share,” or process for “targeted advertising” purposes (as these terms are defined in applicable US law). We sell or share Personal Information to social media networks and ad networks for purposes of analyzing trends and statistics in terms of how our websites are used, to provide a better and more personalized website experience, to understand the needs of our customers, and for personalized advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share Personal Information about persons under the age of 18.

2. How we collect your Personal Information

We collect the above types of Personal Information from a variety of sources, including:

Operating systems and platforms
CCTV cameras in an IMAX office or location directly operated by us, and
From you directly or groups you participate in that organize events at theatres directly operated by us or when you visit any of our offices/locations directly operated by us.

Personal Information you provide

You may be asked to provide your Personal Information anytime you contact IMAX or use the Services. IMAX may share this information and use it consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may also combine it with other information to provide and improve our products, services, content, and advertising. You are not required to provide the Personal Information that we request, but if you choose not to do so, in many cases, we will not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have.

Personal Information collected automatically

Whenever you visit or interact with the Services, we and any third-party advertisers or service providers may use various technologies that automatically or passively collect information about your online activity. IMAX may collect your Personal Information as stated above in the following ways:

Internet Activity: We may use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, mobile analytics software, log files, or other technologies to collect certain information about your online activity and interactions with us and to allow us to keep track of analytics and certain statistical information which enables us to improve the Services and provide you with more relevant content. We may also use session replay software, which collects information about your interaction with the Services, including keystrokes, mouse movements, and form field entries. We may also monitor your interactions with the Services for compliance verification and security purposes. We may use third-party service providers to support the Services. Some service providers may use technology such as cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, log files, or other technologies to receive, collect, and store Personal Information on our behalf.
Electronic Activity: We may automatically collect your IP address or other unique identifier for the computer, mobile device, tablet or other device you use to access the Services, including the hardware model and mobile network information. Visiting an IMAX location

When you visit any IMAX office(s) or location directly operated by IMAX, we may collect information such as your name, company name, and email address, as well as capture audio, electronic, visual, or similar information including facial images, vehicle license images and voice information with our on-premises CCTV and electronic security monitoring devices as part of our legitimate interest in protecting our business while maintaining the security of persons and property.

When you visit any theatre directly operated by IMAX or temporary location for an event organized by IMAX, we may collect personal information, as well as capture audio, images, or videos of you (e.g., customer testimonials), during or after that event as part of our legitimate interest in promoting our business.

Combination of Personal Information

We may combine the Personal Information we receive from you and about you, including Personal Information you provide to us and Personal Information we automatically collect through the Services, as well as Personal Information collected across other computers or devices that you may use from other online or offline sources, and third-party sources. IMAX may use the combined Personal Information we collect from you in the manner detailed in this Privacy Policy.

3. How we disclose your Personal Information

We may transfer and/or disclose Personal Information in connection with the services being provided to you by IMAX, including to:

IMAX associated companies or subsidiaries, for the purposes set out above.
Service providers that carry out certain services for a permitted business purpose on our behalf, including providing business, professional, marketing, analytics, or technical support services to us, or helping us operate our business and the Services, or administer activities on our behalf. Analytics partners, as we disclose your Personal Information to our partners that assist us in performing analytics and help us measure the effectiveness of our Services’ content and our marketing and advertising efforts.
Legal disclosures, where we are under a duty to disclose or share your Personal Information to comply with any legal obligation, to enforce or apply our Terms of Use or any other agreement, or to protect our rights. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Business Partners, on an aggregated level, to give them a better understanding of our business. Such information will not identify you personally and will be anonymized or de-identified.

In addition, such advertisements or links may contain cookies placed by third parties. IMAX is not responsible for those advertisements, the website to which they are linked, or how any linked sites may use their own cookies. For example, cookies received with banner ads may be collected by the company posting an advertisement on our website. Please refer to that company’s privacy policy for further information.

5. International transfers of your Personal Information

Personal Information may be stored and processed in any jurisdiction where we have operations or in which we engage service providers, including across Canada, the United States, and Ireland, where laws regarding the protection of Personal Information may be less stringent than the laws in your jurisdiction. When you access certain functions of our website or download and create an account for an IMAX app, we may also ask you if you would like to receive information about the products or services of our third-party business partners that we think may be of interest to you. We will not send you this information without your consent.

7. How does IMAX keep your information secure?

We have taken reasonable steps to secure Personal Information in our control, but no set of security measures is guaranteed to be effective against all threats of unauthorized Personal Information access or use.
